About Us

We're about tradition. We're about heritage and conservation. We're about well trained dogs and exceptional reliability. We're about good manners and incredible  food. We're about making your time afield worth the travel, the expense, and worth the planning. And summing it up, we're about educating newer people to the sport and art of running pointers or flushers on wild birds, fly fishing moving or still water, and knowing about the wildlife that surrounds us while we do just that.

Garret Booth
Garret is a Registered Hunting, Fishing and Recreation Guide in both Maine and New Hampshire. Having previously guided for several very busy game bird preserves, Garret wanted to refine his approach to both hunting and guiding, and he's never looked back. In doing so, he has been able to assess the needs of clients and combine them with an idealistic approach to personally guided hunts for upland birds, waterfowl, fly fishing and any other outdoor adventure he finds himself on with clients. On average Garret is afield every day, all year pursuing waterfowl, upland species, fish, or mountains as a whole - as a guide or simply afield for his own satisfaction. In doing so he is in tune with current conditions, migration status, and the availability of food sources. This enables him to offer you the most productive enjoyable day afield to maximize your exposure to what we offer. He has advanced training in CPR and First Aid methods, a very thorough knowledge of wilderness survival and orienteering methods, as well as first hand knowledge of nautical conditions and methods to keep you safe - wherever you go with him.
Nellie Booth
Nellie was born and grew up in Peterborough New Hampshire with Golden Retrievers her entire life, and is an accomplished trainer of both pointing dogs and flushers alike. She plays a very active role in our boarding program with incoming dogs, enabling them to deal with their life better as a result of progressive training. Nellie handles a great deal of our sessions that focus on helping an overly-focused dog deal better with life by teaching the handler/owner the necessary skill set to counter balance some of the neurosis experienced by some - if not all - hunting dogs. Not only is she a skilled trainer, but Nellie is also responsible for all meals provided on our outings and clinics. She's a phenomenally experienced Chef with twenty years of experience in the restaurant industry specializing in gourmet preparations, quality slow cooking, and a new spin on Traditional American - and let's not forget an incredible pastry chef as well! Regardless of what it is that Nellie does, you can rest assured that either as a trainer or chef, you won't be disappointed.

Bob Poulin
Because this is a training facility, we provide a professional shooter for our training appointments so that we can both (trainer and handler) give our undivided attention to the dog while on point or flushing birds. Enter Bob Poulin - hired gun. Bob has an incredible amount of experience shooting, and is an asset to our clients for both his reliability behind the gun, and his thorough knowledge of body mechanics and shooting fundamentals that will better enable you to put birds in the bag during your hunting season. No pressure Bob, but he only missed two shots out of several hundred last year on released birds over dogs during training appointments.

Dempsey

"Dempsey" or "The Big D" as she is commonly known by family and friends, is a somewhat new addition to our family and business. She turned four years old on August 6th 2008, and was on her first duck hunt while she was three months of age. Dempsey is very comfortable with triple and quadruple marks, blinds, and shows a very positive, refined "boat attitude". She has a clean, positive, and energetic water entry and accordingly, won the DockDogs competition in 2009 in Rochester New Hampshire with a jump of 22'7". After several years of retrieving anything from woodcock in Maine to sea ducks in the Atlantic Ocean Dempsey has it down pat. Period. This has prepared her and given her a veteran attitude when it comes to serving you and your hunting companions well. Dempsey is from Westwind Farms Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in Levant Maine. She is out of a litter by Westwind's Abernaki Chief and CH Rudy's Georgia of Westwind WDX. DVM Wendy Chisolm was the breeder of this magnificent dog, and should be credited with one of the most rewarding and dedicated dogs I have seen in quite a while. Dempsey and Garret will be involved in training demos throughout the 2010 season, so keep an eye on the training schedule and itinerary.  We will make sure to post whatever outcome is accomplished by both of them, so be sure to check back soon!

Herbie

"Herbie" as he is known by those who hunt over him is a tremendously classy hunter. He is incredibly bird savvy and works well within range, holding points confidently while we plan our approach, pick shooting lanes, and flush our birds. He is literally a seasoned veteran at nine years old now, and has approximately (at last count) thousands of birds to his credit. Herbie has been raised and trained over both pen raised and wild birds which include Hungarian Partridge, Chukar Partridge, Bobwhite Quail, Ringneck Pheasant, Ruffed Grouse, Spruce Grouse, and Woodcock. He has hunted every season, day in, day out, with a committed and professional mind and heart. He has figured out the intricacies of wild birds, and enjoys his job. Herbie has fully recovered from a very in depth medical procedure as a result of being diagnosed with Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy. This is a disease that is directly related to his auto-immune system, and resulted in the removal of all of his nails through one surgical procedure.  With an ever watchful eye, consistent medicinal treatment, and lots of birds (as usual) Herbie will be roaring to go come October 1st, his favorite day.

Suzie

This is Suzie, Herbie's littermate. "Suze" as we call her, has really blossomed in her later years. She's a wonderful dog that blesses our hearts, and the hearts of everyone she meets. She's a non-hunting pointer that we rescued - well... She hunts - in her own special way, and we accept The Suze for who she is.  Suzie has covered a great deal of ground since she began owning us in 2006. She came in gun shy and was blinking birds to the point where a bird would send her to the truck. We now have Suzie pointing solidly and holding points for up to five minutes. Her shot conditioning is coming along very slowly, but she is making great strides with every month. She has proven herself as a reliable and important part of our home, and starting puppies for Mel Pfeifle from Hampshire Kennels. She's a great worker, solid in the woods, strong, and fast. She loves to run and we often equate her to the female version of Forest Gump "And I was running".

Emiliah
Emiliah is out of Hampshire's Mr. Buck and Elhew Mother Goose. She comes from Hampshire Kennels, located in Bradford New Hampshire. The Pfeifles, owners of Hampshire Kennels, are incredible people to work with. She's now a tenured member of the Grey's Outfitting crew and fills her position with a great work ethic and a phenomenal sense of humor. Emiliah is a finished gun dog at 2.5 years old, and was recently bred with Hampshire's Lee (who is out of Champion Elhew Explorer & Champion Elhew Goldielock). She's an old soul with a great deal of passion and respect for wild birds - and really sticks it to them Old School Style!

Max

Another wonderful Hampshire Kennels dog that Mel Pfeifle bred... Max is our household and field "jester" if you will. Known for explosive fits of fun and frolic in the house (out of nowhere, and for no other reason than to play - by himself) he locks it in while afield and will probably be one of the staunchest and most effective woodcock and grouse dogs I've ever seen. His development from young pup to adult has been an absolute joy to watch and experience. Max guides woodcock and grouse trips for us every fall and winter however due to a previous cruciate injury, he rests often and is the enlightening spirit often gracing Garret's cabin while in Maine during the winter while the "working dogs" are in their kennels. We run him as much as his knee can stand it, and we rest him the remainder of the time - as indicated by his photos.

Ghillie & Charlie
What else can we say? Look at these puppies!!

These two little Field Bred English Cocker Spaniel puppies are little dynamos! Charlie and Ghillie are now two years old and have many a guided hunt under their belt/s. Ghillie Llama (as we call him) is an experienced flusher, retriever, and yes, the rumors are true: Ghillie can bring snowshoe hare full circle and into shotgun range! Charlie is reserved for upland hunting only, and does a great job of finding, flushing, and honoring the pointing dogs while holding birds.
