The most liberating feeling in the world is to be able to experience the outdoors and always know where you are, and how to get out when you either want to - or need to. After years of guiding hunts and fishing trips in both New Hampshire and Maine we've learned many things - but one in particular. The use and knowledge of a compass has been replaced by the ease of the GPS systems available on the market today. Not only have people grown "unaware" of the basic principles of woods navigation without the use of a GPS, most don't bring a compass as a back-up, or know how to effectively read a map and identify important features - other than the obvious streams, lakes, ponds and mountains.

Regardless of whether you're hunting, hiking, fishing, scouting or running dogs, there is no better feeling in the world than knowing where you are and where you're heading.

We've put together this curriculum understanding that people work full time jobs, have families, dogs, and plenty of other commitments throughout the year as well. We have allotted classroom time in the evenings at our office in Peterborough, and then a practical day to end the course as a whole, wrapping it all up with a BBQ. Come enjoy the day outside navigating routes, problem solving navigational dilemmas in a controlled environment with your fellow students, and leave understanding how to use your mind, your compass, and your GPS while in the woods.

Classes will begin Saturday December 12th, 2009 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A two hour classroom will be held each evening (December 12th, 13th, and 19th) and the practical day on the 20th from 0900 until dark ending with a warm hearty dinner for all class participants. Contact us for details.
