Started Dogs

We're excited to announce the availability of started Elhew bred pointers. We feel that the pointers we breed and train have accomplished all that a Northeastern Grouse Hunter could hope for. Our dogs are well mannered, playful, inquisitive, brave, statuesque, and a joy in the home, kennel, and car.

Depending on your preferences, we have three levels of started dogs available. The descriptions are outlined below for your review.

Started Dog – Basic

• House trained
• Basic obedience (including leash manners)
• Basic field commands
• Shot conditioned
• Crate conditioned
• Car conditioned (dog box, crate, and loose)
• Exposed to pen raised and wild birds

Started Dog – Intermediate

• All elements listed above
• Effectively handling pen raised and wild birds
• E-Collar conditioned
• Introduced to conditioned retrieve (holding reliably)
• Steady up to shot sequence

Finished Dog – Advanced

• All elements of basic and intermediate started dogs
• Steady to wing and shot
• Conditioned retrieve
