Suzie

This is Suzie, Herbie's littermate. She came to us from the same good friend that helped us out with Herbie, and she's fitting in quite nicely. Suzie is a third smaller than Herbie, however she's a great grouse dog in the making. She works considerably closer than Herbie, and is quite a bit slower. This enables us to "switch gears" for birds that are conditioned by pressure, and stay in thicker cover.

Suzie has covered a great deal of ground since she began owning us in 2006. She came in gun shy and was blinking birds to the point where a bird would send her to the truck. We now have Suzie pointing solidly and holding points for up to five minutes. Her shot conditioning is coming along very slowly, but she is making great strides with every month. Regardless of whether she hunts, she's known as "Suuuze" and has proved herself as a reliable and important part of our home, and starting puppies for Mel Pfeifle from Hampshire Kennels. She's a great worker, solid in the woods, strong, and fast. She loves to run and we often equate her to the female version of Forest Gump "And I was running".

UPDATE:  Suzie's not going to be hunting at all... Due to her previous experience prior to coming to us, we're finding it much better for Suuze to just be a dog. She LOVES pointing birds and chasing them, but the shooting? Not so much. We love you anyway Suuze!
