Upland Hunting |
|
We prefer to work pointers for our woodcock trips due to the possibility of the majority of the foliage still be up and blocking possible shooting lanes. This allows for us to get a more effective approach and exposure to birds is increased considerably. In the event you prefer to work over a flushing dog (or your own) please contact us to let us know. The areas we cover for woodcock tend to be tougher walking conditions, as they are often quite wet with very tight cover. We like to get off the "beaten path" during our woodcock trips, so be prepared to walk. In the event walking or endurance is somewhat limited due to physical disability or age, please make us aware, and we can easily accommodate your every need to make an outing one of the most memorable you've had - or will have. The success of our woodcock hunts depends greatly on the status of "flight birds". Check back to see our scouting reports on this page and it will come in handy in deciding when to book a trip. Simply call or email us for any input you're looking for. Please keep in mind as well, that we'll be offering guided upland trips out of Enchanted Outfitters during the 2008 season. Come experience what northern Maine has to offer - such as most days yielding between twenty five to fifty five points and/or flushes, combined with the area's definition and character, it makes for true wilderness upland bird shooting. Email us to inquire about the grouse and woodcock Mecca that is Maine. |

Whether your preference is to hunt traditionally over pointing dogs, a more "foot-bound" flusher, or both working as a team, we can accommodate you. Our dogs are well trained and grouse savvy, as is our Guide Garret Booth. We commonly hunt alder stands that border abundant hemlock forests, as well as acorn groves. The areas in which we hunt are by exclusive permission, so seeing other hunters will not be in your plans for the day. This allows for safe gunning, peaceful times afield, and the ability to take in the views without the interference of others. Additionally, it means the birds are, for the most part, not pressured constantly by droves of hunters and unsteady dogs. Lunches and breaks can be taken without rushing, and allow clients to simply relax, and take in all this wonderful region of New Hampshire has to offer. Regardless of your experience level, we will suit the day's hunt to meet your specific needs, interests, and desires. If you're a novice hunter that would like to simply be exposed to the relaxed atmosphere, the gorgeous scenery, as well as watching a well trained dog work his magic with some truly magnificent birds, we have packages available that will show you what grouse hunting in New Hampshire is all about. In the event you're a seasoned veteran, we will undoubtedly test your skill with challenging terrain and shooting lanes, all the while still keeping in mind the common goal for the day - bird exposure. Come and spend a day with us and experience The Granite State's thunderous treasure - Ruffed Grouse the Grey's way. |
