The Grey's Outfitting crew will be heading to northern
Maine this year for a series of wild bird exposure clinics!
After years of bird hunting in the same area that roughly
encompasses 1.5 million acres, years of getting to know Gloria Hewey at
Enchanted Outfitters, and years of putting dogs on wild birds during
both hunting and training, we're now inviting you to come along with us.
Regardless of how many released birds you put your dog on
or they put themselves on - nothing compares to the experience your dog
gains by running on wild birds. To watch younger dogs mature is an
obviously magical experience - but to watch them understand how a bird
is going to act - it just leaves you speechless. Through time,
experience, repetitive exposure to both training and birds, and of
course birds themselves, your hunting partner may very well complete
their freshman or sophomore year in the college of Mother Nature - Wild
Bird Campus.
In the event that you've got an experienced dog that
is in need of both exposure and troubleshooting, this training is a
perfect course for you as well. No bird in the world teaches dogs what
northeast grouse teach them - patience. Nothing slows a dog down like a
bird with very little fuse, so you can look forward to staunching your
dog up with us in Maine - that's for sure.
Curriculum:
- Basic yard work
- Basic field work
- Steadiness drills
- Wild bird exposure
- Appropriate cover
- Handling your dog to hunt
- Basic canine first aid (field
care)
- Group training and one on one
training during the weekend
Start the day off with a hearty
breakfast, head out to a controlled environment with your dogs, and
receive general group training focused on control, and compliance -
the nice way. From there, head to select grouse cover with Garret
Booth for one on one training sessions with your dog on the ground.
End the day in another group session followed by a question and
answer session that will have you learning from mistakes and looking
forward to making more - we all do!
Give us a call for pricing and any
other questions you may have regarding accommodations.
